VPN (Virtual Private Network)

A virtual private network (VPN) extends a private network across a public network, such as the Internet. It enables a computer or network-enabled device to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if it were directly connected to the private network. wikipedia.org

IT maintains a VPN server for the Pullman campus. If you are away from the Pullman campus and you want to reach some department resources, you must connect to the VPN before you can reach the resources. An example of a resource is diamond3, the department file server. If you are off campus, you must connect to the VPN before you can connect to diamond3.

NB the VPN does not work for SciFinder. If you are not on campus and you want to access SciFinder, the WSU VPN will not help. Go directly to http://www.systems.wsu.edu/Griffin/ejournals/splash/SciFindSch.html and use the second link.
