Students may<\/em> <em>apply through various methods described below<\/em> <em>or they must be recommend by Faculty.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n<div \n\t class=\"wsu-c-accordion\"\t\t\t>\n\t<h2 class=\"wsu-c-accordion__title\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/natlab.wsu.edu\/dgrp\/\">Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP)<\/a>\t<\/h2>\n\t<div class=\"wsu-c-accordion__content\">\n\t\t<div class=\"wsu-c-accordion__content-inner\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized wsu-image--style-framed\"><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.wp.wsu.edu\/uploads\/sites\/3121\/2022\/11\/Grant_6210_Web.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.wp.wsu.edu\/uploads\/sites\/3121\/2022\/11\/Grant_6210_Web-792x528.jpg\" alt=\"A student working with grass\" class=\"wp-image-28437\" width=\"507\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The WRGP allows master\u2019s graduate certificate and Ph.D. students who are residents of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) states to enroll in any participating programs within the participating institutions and pay resident tuition. The average savings is about $14,900 per student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Apply for admission and identify yourself as a WICHE WRGP applicant to be considered for the discounted tuition rate. Programs give a limited number of reduced tuition seats each year, so apply early.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div \n\t class=\"wsu-c-accordion\"\t\t\t>\n\t<h2 class=\"wsu-c-accordion__title\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/nihbiotech.wsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">NIH Biotech Training Grants<\/a>\t<\/h2>\n\t<div class=\"wsu-c-accordion__content\">\n\t\t<div class=\"wsu-c-accordion__content-inner\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized wsu-image--style-framed\"><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.wp.wsu.edu\/uploads\/sites\/3121\/2023\/08\/COVID-vaccine-Pfizer-JLH-PY4-resize.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.wp.wsu.edu\/uploads\/sites\/3121\/2023\/08\/COVID-vaccine-Pfizer-JLH-PY4-resize-792x448.jpeg\" alt=\"Gloved hands with a injection of Pfizer vaccine\" class=\"wp-image-32980\" width=\"507\" height=\"292\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The NIH Protein Biotechnology Training Program at WSU offers interdisciplinary training to enhance the graduate experience and produce versatile scientists and engineers to address the future needs of biotechnology in academic, industrial, or government service. The program provides state-of-the-art training in basic science relevant to biotechnology and education in the applied aspects of biotechnology with a particular emphasis on protein science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Trainees in the Program are admitted for graduate studies through one of the participating academic units, then nominated for a traineeship:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chem.wsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Chemistry<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chebe.wsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/globalhealth.wsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paul G. Allen School for Global Animal Health<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smb.wsu.edu\/\">School of Molecular Biosciences<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/mps.wsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Program in Molecular Plant Sciences<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/vmp.vetmed.wsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Trainee positions are supported by a grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, part of the NIH, and contributions by WSU.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Internal Affiliates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>Internal programs are facilitated by the Graduate School. And they\u2019re seeking fresh minds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Through the PNNL-WSU Distinguished Graduate Research Program (DGRP), Ph.D. students will earn a stipend along with benefits, funded by their WSU and PNNL advisors, while working under a prestigious graduate committee on nationally relevant research. It is a unique opportunity to tap into the knowledge and world-class research infrastructure available at both institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">DGRP students will work with faculty at WSU and scientists at PNNL while completing their graduate coursework and subsequently transfer to PNNL for the remaining years of their PhD program to gain hands-on research experience with PNNL scientists. The first ARCS Fellowships were awarded to the College of Veterinary Medicine through the Seattle Chapter of ARCS. The Seattle Chapter is one of twelve chapters of the ARCS Foundation which has supported graduate education in the natural sciences, medicine, and engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">By offering financial incentives to graduate students, the ARCS program further encourages the study of science, medicine, and engineering at the most prestigious universities in the United States. Since 1958, the ARCS Foundation has awarded over $66 million to support research in the fields of science and technology. Nationally, 14 ARCS chapters support graduate fellowships at 43 universities. ARCS Foundation Fellows possess outstanding scholastic records and proven abilities and receive multiple offers to study at other top national universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>For more information about ARCS, please visit, the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seattlearcsfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Seattle Chapter (ARCS).<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div \n\t class=\"wsu-c-accordion\"\t\t\t>\n\t<h2 class=\"wsu-c-accordion__title\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/gradschool.wsu.edu\/gdap-cohorts\/\">Graduate Diversity Assistantship Pathways Program (GDAPP)<\/a>\t<\/h2>\n\t<div class=\"wsu-c-accordion__content\">\n\t\t<div class=\"wsu-c-accordion__content-inner\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<p class=\"\">The Graduate Diversity Assistantship Pathways Program (GDAPP) intends to increase access and opportunities to graduate education for domestic students from underrepresented groups and increase diversity in our graduate programs. GDAPP assistantships are funded through a partnership between the\u202fWSU Graduate School\u202fand the student\u2019s program. In addition to funding, recipients become part of the GDAPP Scholar community.
