Fetch the Driver<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Connect to Chem-jukebox<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Navigate to the Printer_Drivers > Canon > Mac.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Open the Canon Drivers<\/strong> text file. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Copy the URL to your web browser.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. On the imageRunner website, click Software & Drivers<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Choose your Operating System<\/strong> and Version<\/strong>.\n

    • If you don\u2019t know which version of Mac OS you\u2019re using, open System Preferences<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The first line of the System Preferences<\/strong> window tells you which version of Mac OS you\u2019re using.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Available downloads will appear below. The file name will depend on which version of OS you are using, but the file name you are looking for should begin with PS_<\/strong>. Find this zip file and click Download<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Once the download is complete, launch the Canon_PS_Installer.pkg<\/strong> install application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Add the Canon C5850<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      1. Open System Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Use the search bar in the top left to search for Printer<\/strong>. When Printers & Scanners<\/strong> appears, select it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Click Add Printer, Scanner or Fax…<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. In the Add Printer<\/strong> window, click the center icon that looks like a Globe<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. Complete the following fields:\n
          \n
        • Address: 134.121.40.121<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Protocol: Line Printer Daemon \u2013 LPD<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Name: Give the printer a name (e.g., Chem Canon 305<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • In the Use<\/strong> field, choose Select Software…<\/strong> from the drop-down menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • In the Printer Software<\/strong> window, search for 5850. <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Select Canon iR-ADV C5840-5850 PS<\/strong> from the available options, then click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Double check that everything looks correct on the Add Printer<\/strong> window, then click Add<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • You will now be brought back to the Printers<\/strong> window. Click on the printer and select Printer Info…<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Enable Share this printer on the network<\/strong>, then click Option & Supplies\u2026<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Enable:\n
            \n
          • Department ID Management<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Prioritize User Authentication<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          •  Secure Printing of Device<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Switch to the Utility<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Click Open Printer Utility<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Complete the following fields in this order:\n
              \n
            • Select Department ID Management<\/strong> from the User Management<\/strong> drop-down menu. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Tick the Confirm Department ID\/PIN When Printing<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Enter the Department ID<\/strong> and PIN<\/strong> (you can find this at the printer in 305).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Click Printer Information<\/strong> to save your settings and move to the next step.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • In the Printer Information<\/strong> window, click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Click Verify<\/strong> to confirm your credentials. If your information was not entered correctly, you will not be able to print.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Click Save Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              Adding the “Hold” function<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

              If you already have a \u201cHold\u201d print option then you may ignore these steps entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              1. Open a document and select File > Print<\/strong> or press Command+P<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              2. In the printing options page, find Printer Options<\/strong> and click it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              3. Click Special Features<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              4. Select Hold<\/strong> from the Job Processing<\/strong> drop-down menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              5. Select Save Current Settings as Preset…<\/strong> from the Presets<\/strong> drop-down menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
