The American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund presents
A Summer School

Physical Chemistry on the Nanometer Scale

Washington State University
July 27 – August 3
Nanotechnology has been proclaimed as the
“Next Industrial Revolution”

We are seeking graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, as well as two and four-year college faculty who desire to learn about techniques for observing and manipulating, and the principles that govern, materials and devices composed of small collections of atoms or molecules.

LindsayOur goal is to generate the teachers and researchers who will provide the critical needs of manpower development and fundamental research on the nanometer scale. In particular, we will focus on the interface between physics, chemistry, materials science, and biophysics that is most conveniently described as Physical Chemistry on the Nanometer Scale.

Eight outstanding scientists from all of these disciplines have agreed to present both the fundamentals and the exciting frontiers of their specialties at this summer school.

The organizers have received a grant from The American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund to subsidize up to 70 participants. It is planned that ALL participants who are accepted will receive either partially or fully subsidized registration fees, which include the following:

Further, limited funds are available for travel grants.
