Graduate Chemistry Society (GCS)
The 2023–2024 academic year was a busy one for the Graduate Chemistry Society! In the spring, we took our first unified qualifying exams together after finals week (all passes!) and celebrated with a field-day at Klemgard Country Park. The organic chemistry division won the most events overall and took home the first GCS cup, which they will have to defend ferociously this spring. In the fall, GCS helped welcome new students to the department by organizing a department-wide BBQ to kick off the semester. We expanded our intramural offering to include softball and volleyball this year, participated in two hiring searches, and as always, funded chemistry graduate students to travel to conferences and advance their career goals.
