Fetch the Driver

You first need to access the Jukebox server. You can find the directions to do that here.

  1. Navigate to the “Printer_Drivers” folder in Jukebox.
  2. Open the “Canon” folder.
  3. Choose the “Mac” folder.
  4. You will need to open the “Canon Drivers.txt” as this will open with a link inside for the Canon website.
  5. This link will take you to the Canon website to choose your driver based on your version of MacOS.
You will need to highlight the text, copy, and then paste it into your preferred browser.
  6. Once you are on the website, go ahead and click on “Software & Drivers”.
  7. Go ahead and choose the OS version you are on, then you will be taken to the types of drivers they have to offer.
  8. This example is for the Monterey OS but the most important part of this is that the driver should have “PS_” in the front.
Then go ahead and download the driver.
  9. Once the installer is done downloading. Double click the “Canon_PS_Installer.pkg” to get the installer started.
  10.  Go ahead and click “Continue
  11. Click “Continue”.
  12. Go ahead and click “Agree”
  13. Click “Install”
  14. You may be prompted to confirm that you can install this application. Go ahead and put in your computer credentials and install.
  15. Go ahead and close. The driver is now installed on your machine. The next section will show you how to add the Canon printer.

Finally, go click on “Printer Information” as this will update your settings for the next step.
  15. Click “OK”.
  16. Click on “Verify” to confirm your credentials.
  17. Do make sure that you input your correct info otherwise you will not be able to send any prints to this machine.

You can now print to the Canon C5850 now.
However you need to enable the “Hold” print function as this printer is constantly being used for exams.

Adding the ”Hold” function on Mac

If you already have a “Hold” print option then you may ignore these steps entirely.

  1. Have a document that can be printed open and go to “File” at the top left, then down to “Print”.
  2. On the printing options page, scroll down to where it says “Printer Options” and click on it.
  3. A new drop-down will appear and click on “Special Features”.
  4. Click on “Job Processing” and then click on “Hold” then go click on “OK”.
  5. These next steps are optional but you can save the preset as “Hold” for future prints.
  6. Since you currently put on Hold it will save and now you have a preset named “Hold”.
